If your vehicle is over three years old, you are legally required to keep it in a condition that meets legal safety standards in the UK.

The MOT test determines whether or not your car, van, or 4×4 is safe, roadworthy, and in accordance with environmental standards. Any vehicle that does not pass cannot be driven on UK roads, and failure to submit your car for testing may result in a fine.

You can arrange for your MOT to be carried out up to 30 days before the expiry of your current certificate, and any outstanding days will automatically be added to your new one.
